The NATO Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) promotes and conducts co-operative scientific research and exchange of technical information amongst 26 NATO nations and 38 NATO partners. The largest such collaborative body in the world, the RTO encompasses over 3000 scientists and engineers addressing the complete scope of defence technologies and operational domains.

Risø is a national laboratory at the Technical University of Denmark - DTU. The Consortium of Universities for Research in Earthquake Engineering (CUREE) is a non-profit organization, established in 1988, devoted to the advancement of earthquake engineering research, education and implementation.

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), one of the five original centers in the National Science Foundation's Supercomputer Centers Program, opened its doors in January 1986. Since then, NCSA has contributed significantly to the birth and growth of the worldwide cyberinfrastructure for science and engineering, operating some of the world's most powerful supercomputers and developing the software infrastructure needed to efficiently use these systems. Today the center is recognized as an international leader in deploying robust high-performance computing resources and in working with research communities to develop new computing and software technologies.

The main subject focus of the collection is science and technology according to the profile of the ETH Zurich. The Civil Engineering Research Group is part of the Department of Engineering Science at Oxford University. The Department, which has an outstanding reputation for research, is one of the few worldwide in which Engineering is studied as a unified discipline.

The integrity (condition) of older platforms must be maintained. To ensure the safety and integrity of existing structures, improved inspection and monitoring systems need to be devised for platforms. The MMS, through the Technology Assessment and Research (TA&R) Program, is working with the industry to assess and improve these systems.

Several States have used FEA (Finite element analysis) to better understand the dynamic behavior of portable concrete barriers (PCBs) during collisions by a motor vehicle. These investigations have focused primarily on the design of the connection joint between barrier segments—to limit overall deflection of the barrier and to limit the relative lateral deflection between barrier segments to prevent the impacting vehicle from colliding into the exposed blunt end of the next adjacent section.
